What are calories? The calorie refers to the amount of heat needed in order to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water from 14.5 to 15.5 degrees Celsius. A calorie is a unit of energy. You consume food and drinks that provide you with calories and when you use energy from doing exercise and performing normal bodily functions, you use up calories.
Why are we still counting calories? Most of us would know someone struggling with weight loss, and know that they would try so many different ways to diet and exercise. Why is it important to understand the role of calories when it comes to weight loss?
