Tabata pushes the limit on the percentage of your maximum heart rate. Tabata has shorter rest and work periods than regular HIIT workouts. Although the work period is shorter, it still follows the idea from HIIT that you should go all out within that time. And, Tabata's structure features a shorter rest period, you would have less time to recover between exercises.
